Job summary

Hitachi Energy Ltd. seeks a Senior Legal Counsel to support its North American operations. You will provide legal advice across business, commercial, litigation, risk, and compliance matters, drafting and negotiating complex agreements, and managing disputes and outside counsel.

You will collaborate with leaders and legal teams across regions to develop pragmatic legal strategies, ensure governance, and support Code of Conduct and integrity initiatives in a dynamic, multicultural environment.

Qualifications

• Must have work authorization to work in the United States.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to the North Carolina Bar or another State Bar.
• At least 8 years of experience directly related to the responsibilities of the role.
• Significant experience providing legal advice on product liability matters and commercial litigation; global matters preferred.
• Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders in a complex, multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice and counsel across a broad range of legal and business matters, including disputes as needed.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements across multiple units.
• Participate in risk reviews and support risk management activities.
• Identify emerging legal issues and develop practical strategies to support business priorities.
• Support corporate governance activities and Code of Conduct implementation.
• Manage and coordinate outside counsel for efficient legal services.
• Deliver legal training and awareness programs for employees and stakeholders.
• Monitor applicable laws and provide guidance to protect business interests and reputation.
