Job summary

UL Research Institutes seeks a Knowledge Management Specialist to design, implement, and govern enterprise KM systems surfacing research, expertise, and capabilities. You will collaborate with IT, research units, and business stakeholders to enable discovery, interoperability, and scalable knowledge technologies.

We expect an MLIS or equivalent and at least 6 years in KM, taxonomy, and metadata. Proficiency with KM platforms and graph tools is preferred, with strong communication and project

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent from an ALA accredited program.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in knowledge management, taxonomy, metadata, and content management post-MLIS degree.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and govern an enterprise KM system with governance models for cross-division visibility.
• Evaluate and configure KM platforms (e.g., SharePoint, Confluence, enterprise search).
• Develop knowledge maps, capability directories, and expertise locators across divisions.
• Promote knowledge sharing via training, documentation, and change management.
• Design and maintain metadata schemas, taxonomies, and ontologies; ensure data quality.
