Job summary

SFE is seeking a Lead Java Engineer to drive the design and evolution of a high‑scale batch processing platform delivered remotely. You will lead a talented team, shape architecture, and ensure robust, configurable workflows using Spring Batch, Java 11+, and cloud or container environments.

You will own performance tuning, memory management, threading models, and integration with relational databases, while mentoring engineers and aligning delivery with Agile ceremonies.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Expert-level Java (Java 11+ preferred).
• Spring Batch with batch orchestration and custom readers/writers.
• Experience leading teams or mentoring engineers.
• Strong OOP, design patterns, memory management & multi-threading.
• Familiarity with relational databases and SQL.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, and cloud or container environments.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Agile ceremonies and help decompose features.
• Lead design of a configurable batch-processing platform based on Spring Batch.
• Build and optimize complex batch workflows and partitioning strategies.
• Improve memory usage, threading, retries, and failure recovery.
• Apply advanced OOP patterns to create flexible components.
• Drive modularity and performance, create reusable frameworks.
• Ensure code quality with reviews, tests, and security checks.
• Participate in release prep, go-live, and hypercare.
