Job summary

Reddit is seeking an experienced engineer to join the Media Foundation team. You will design an iOS video player and collaborate with product, design, and backend teams to deliver high-performance media experiences across platforms.

The role emphasizes cross-functional leadership, proactive mentoring, and using AI-assisted tools to accelerate development while maintaining rigorous quality. This position is remote in the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent technical expertise.
• 5+ years of hands-on, professional software development experience developing user-facing iOS mobile native applications at scale, using Swift.
• Strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize tasks and deliver projects on schedule.
• Excellent communication skills. You collaborate effectively with teams in a fully remote environment and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• A track record of leading projects that require cross-team and cross-functional collaborations.
• Entrepreneurial spirit. You are self-directed, innovative, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments. You love to build new things and thrive in ambiguity and even failure.

Responsibilities

• Architect a highly modular, easy-to-integrate iOS video player that enables other teams to build features effortlessly while delivering first-class performance.
• Partner with backend media infrastructure and CDN teams to optimize global delivery and performance.
• Work cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineering counterparts to execute on product and business strategy and build novel media products and features that our users will love.
• Work with a team of thoughtful, fast-moving, and motivated engineers. Set and define standards that improve developer workflows, recommend best practices, and help coach and mentor engineers on the team to further their professional development.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools to accelerate prototyping, system design, and coding, while applying rigorous judgement to validate and own the final outputs.
