Job summary

Oliver James Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for its life insurance accounting team. This fully remote role reports to the Accounting & Reporting Manager and focuses on US GAAP and statutory reporting across life/health entities.

You will own journal entries, reconciliations, and close activities while staying current on US GAAP, STAT, and regulatory guidance; involvement in new standards like LDTI, ASC 944, CECL; and interaction with external auditors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
• Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Experience with US GAAP and STAT accounting for insurance.

Responsibilities

• Prepare US GAAP and statutory financial statements across multiple life/health insurance entities.
• Own journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and core close activities.
• Research and document accounting treatment for new and complex insurance transactions.
• Monitor developments across US GAAP, STAT and insurance regulatory guidance.
• Support implementation of standards including LDTI, ASC 944 and CECL.
• Assist with statutory reporting / Blue Book preparation and review.
• Work with external auditors through year-end audits and statutory examinations.
• Help develop accounting policies, controls and reporting processes.
• Participate in ad hoc projects and broader finance initiatives as the business grows.
