Frontline Wildfire Defense is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel to serve as the company’s top legal advisor and strategic partner to the executive team. You will oversee contracts, governance, compliance, and risk mitigation, with a strong emphasis on construction law and commercial contracting.

You will lead the contracts team, manage privacy and data protection for our connected monitoring software, and advise on employment and product liability matters for a remote, multi-state

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited institution and active state bar membership.
• Minimum 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including at least 3 years in-house.
• Proven experience in construction law and complex construction contracts.
• Nice to have IP; in-house experience at a high-growth or venture-backed company; supporting fundraising, M&A, or board matters; and consumer-facing product, warranty, or product liability matters.
• Contractual skills: proven experience negotiating and drafting complex contracts.
• Leadership: experience managing attorneys or contracts professionals, directing outside counsel, and managing projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; analytical and strategic thinking; strong business acumen.

Responsabilités

• Oversee contracting function across construction, hardware procurement, and SaaS-enabled services; set standards and negotiate high-value agreements.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws; assist with permits and approvals.
• Identify contractual risks and mitigate them through contract language and negotiation.
• Manage disputes and outside counsel; lead mediation/arbitration strategy.
• Regularly update corporate governance documents and internal policies; involve stakeholders.
• Advise HR on multi-state remote workforce matters.
• Oversee privacy and data protection compliance for connected monitoring software and customer data.
• Guide homeowner-facing agreements, warranties, and product liability matters.
• Lead the legal function; develop automation and scalable processes; manage outside counsel.
