Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health is seeking a Sr Risk Manager for a remote/work from home role. You will lead loss prevention strategies, risk mitigation initiatives, and collaborate with leadership across Human Resources, Legal, Quality, Compliance and Patient Safety to assess the organization’s risk profile.

The role reports to the Risk Director and may provide cross-coverage, supporting system-wide risk management, incident analysis, and regulatory readiness.

Qualifications

• CPHRM within 1 year of hire (Required)
• Bachelor’s Degree in Healthcare, Business, Legal, or related field (Required)
• Master’s Degree in Healthcare, Business, Legal, Insurance or related field (Preferred)
• 5+ years in Healthcare Risk Management, Quality or Safety (Required)
• Demonstrable understanding of Risk Management principles; strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Leads timely initial event response and assess facts and risks.
• Serves as contact for high-risk event-related concerns affecting patients, workforce, or visitors.
• Leads investigations with clinical, legal, and operational stakeholders; communicates findings.
• Provides risk guidance in grievance committees and liability discussions.
• Partners to lead apology & disclosure strategies and Just-In-Time training for clinicians and leaders.
• Manages Early Liability Review and collaborates with claims management for resolutions.
• Coordinates with claims management and outside counsel on interviews and case prep.
• Oversees regulatory responses during surveys/investigations (CMS, Joint Commission).
• Analyzes claims data to identify trends and inform risk strategy.
• Delivers education on risk management, claims, and insurance principles.
