Job summary

The University of Chicago is seeking a Senior Grants and Contracts Administrator to independently manage pre-award and post-award activities for faculty portfolios. You will coordinate with PIs, URA, and internal offices to ensure timely budgets, submissions, and compliant awards.

You will supervise junior staff, provide guidance, and maintain awareness of sponsor policies and changes while supporting a high-volume research environment. Remote work is eligible.

Qualifications

• College or university degree in related field is required.
• 5-7 years of work experience in a related discipline.
• Knowledge and skills developed through substantial sponsorship administration work.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-award activities: proposal budgeting, routing in the university system and URA coordination.
• Lead post-award activities: account reconciliation, forecasting, and progress/effort reporting.
• Manage subcontract processes and MTAs with URA and internal offices.
• Ensure compliance with sponsor guidelines, policies and regulatory requirements.
• Train and mentor junior grants & contracts staff; act as liaison to PIs and departments.
