Job summary

Slalom is seeking a Senior GCP Data Architect to lead the design and modernization of enterprise-scale data platforms in a remote consulting role. You will set architecture strategy, build scalable data solutions, and partner with engineering and business teams to enable analytics, AI/ML, and cloud transformation.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in data architecture, deep GCP expertise (BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer), and experience delivering data lakes,

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture, Data Engineering, or Enterprise Data Platform Design.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing large-scale cloud data platforms on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong expertise in BigQuery, Dataflow, Dataproc, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer (Airflow).
• Experience with modern data processing frameworks including Spark and Kafka.
• Deep understanding of data modeling, data integration, data quality, and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead end-to-end cloud-based data solutions on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Assess existing data ecosystems and develop modernization roadmaps aligned with business objectives.
• Design scalable data platforms, integration patterns, and data models that support analytics, reporting, and AI/ML initiatives.
• Establish architecture standards, governance practices, and reusable design patterns for engineering teams.
• Lead the design of batch, streaming, and real-time data processing solutions.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, product leaders, architects, and engineers to deliver high-impact solutions.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for strategic data initiatives.
• Drive adoption of modern architecture approaches including Data Mesh, Data Products, and event-driven architectures.
