Job summary

Fine Tune is seeking a Senior/Staff Design Engineer to design and build the front end of our products in Rails with Hotwire, Stimulus, Tailwind and DaisyUI, from sketch to production. This senior IC role owns the design system in code, sets patterns, reviews front-end work, and helps steer product direction for auditors and operators at global clients.

Qualifications

• 5+ years designing and building product software
• Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; debugging in the browser
• Server-rendered web apps: view code, controllers, models; Ruby a plus
• Proficient with Git, pull requests, code review, and tests for UI
• Portfolio showing design and code: shipped work or demos
• Experience owning a design system in code
• Experience leading discovery and research with product management
• Deep knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and how to design for them
• Proficient with Figma and prototyping in code

Responsibilities

• Design and build features end to end in Rails with Hotwire, Stimulus, Tailwind, and DaisyUI from sketch to production
• Own code through release, including tests, accessibility, performance, and bugs
• Build and maintain the design system as code: tokens, theming, reusable components
• Prototype in code when it answers the question faster than a mockup
• Reach for JavaScript only where it earns its keep
• Build interfaces that perform with large data and long-running jobs
• Establish patterns for AI-powered features and human review
