Job summary

The Forest Stewards Guild is seeking a full-time Senior Forester based in Maine to lead forest stewardship projects, manage contracts, and supervise staff. This role demands strong project management, field experience in Northeastern forests, and the ability to secure funding and partnerships across multiple states.

Ideal candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a natural resources field, 5–10 years of relevant experience, and proficiency with ArcGIS and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a natural resources or environmental science field and 5–10 years of related experience.
  • Experience developing forestry prescriptions and overseeing restoration or timber sale projects.
  • Experience with contract management and writing ecological management plans.
  • Experience conducting ecological monitoring or data collection and using field methods.

Responsibilities

  • Manage project workflows and collaborate with teams using software such as Mural, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Provide administrative and technical support to implement complex project objectives and deliverables.
  • Manage contracts and agreements per procurement policies.
  • Represent the Guild at meetings, events, and conferences.
  • Assist with training and management of apprenticeships and youth programs.
  • Conduct field work for monitoring and inspections.
  • Track project budgets, metrics, and deliverables.
  • Supervise seasonal and year-round staff.
  • Support grant writing, administration, and reporting.
