Job Description

This role involves joining the TIW Team to assist with decommissioning objectives. The project includes reverse engineering an on-premises Informatica legacy database to disconnect the technologies scheduled for decommissioning.

Sources: API Endpoints, Mainframe tables.

Target: DB2 tables.

As a Sr Data Engineer, you will be regarded as a Technical Expert in one or more phases of Data Engineering. Your responsibilities include providing design recommendations aligned with the long-term IT strategy and integrating data for our consumers. You will determine specifications, plan, design, and develop critical data solutions, utilizing appropriate data engineering processes either independently or with the product team.

Responsibilities

• Designing Solutions: Apply technical knowledge to drive outcomes for customers. Work independently on initiatives that align with broader software engineering strategies. Collaborate with team members to develop core data for the product that delivers outcomes. Ensure stability, scalability, and resilience of software products.
• Learning and Applying New Techniques: Share new ideas and techniques with the team. Encourage junior engineers to learn and grow.
• Collaborating within the Team: Participate in collaboration sessions, provide technical expertise, and help decompose work during product planning and implementation.
• Defining Engineering Standards and Patterns: Contribute to developing engineering practices, templates, and frameworks.
• DevOps: Ensure applications run efficiently and are optimized for performance. Participate in code reviews, debug issues, and continuously assess technology for building stable, scalable software.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience analyzing existing Informatica PowerCenter mappings, sessions, and workflows.
• Ability to trace data flow from source to target tables and vice versa.
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
• Experience with Informatica Metadata Manager, Enterprise Data Catalog, or similar tools to track data lineage.
• Understanding data mapping documents and analyzing/modifying existing ETL processes within PowerCenter.
• Strong SQL skills and knowledge of data warehousing concepts, facts, and dimensions.
• Experience with scheduling tools such as Zena or similar.

Additional Requirements

7+ years of ETL development experience with Informatica. Industry experience in Financial Services is preferred. Knowledge of industry standard SDLC practices. Ability to query databases for complex data lookups and updates.
