Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to drive multiple product-focused teams and shape scalable software solutions. You’ll mentor engineers, partner with product managers, and push for modern architecture and cloud-first delivery across web, mobile, and backend systems.

You will lead technical excellence, foster innovation, and guide teams through Agile practices while aligning with business goals and security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required for software engineering leadership roles.
• 9+ years of software engineering experience, with leadership experience of 7+ years.
• Master’s degree preferred; strong Agile and cloud/trends experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product focused software engineers.
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
• Collaborate with product managers to define capabilities and testing scenarios.
• Continuously improve software engineering practices.
• Design, develop, test, implement, and support full-stack solutions in Agile environments.
• Own craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
• Stay current with technology trends and mentor others in the engineering community.
• Foster innovation, teamwork, and diversity while increasing team velocity.
• Lead deployment of applications into AWS environments and microservice architectures.
• Break monoliths into microservices and build new microservices.
