Job summary

Suvi Global Services, an Akima company, seeks a Sr. Systems Engineer to support federal contracts with security monitoring, auditing, and DevSecOps enablers. You will work with clients and technical teams to advise on systems engineering and development, and participate in various projects as needed.

The role is remote with about 25% on-site work. Candidates must be located within commutable distance to Herndon, VA, and hold an active Secret clearance with eligibility for Top Secret.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent; 4+ years military active duty or 5+ years relevant experience.
• Active Secret Clearance required with eligibility to hold Top Secret.
• 5+ years Cloud and Kubernetes experience.
• Superb written and oral communication skills.
• Expert in DevSecOps methodologies and how to build and operate reliable systems.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals in the cloud and datacenter.
• JavaScript/TypeScript, Bash, and general programming experience.
• Knowledge of AWS including EKS, Advanced networking, Organizations, Control Tower, and associated services.
• AWS associate level certification, and Kubernetes developer (CKAD) or administrator (CKA).
• A deep understanding of HTTP performance and security.
• Expert of Linux and Kubernetes administration and services.
• Familiarity with the fundamentals of Agile project management.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot MySQL (MariaDB) and PostgreSQL databases on AWS RDS/Aurora or Kubernetes Cloud Native Postgres.
• Cloud platform agnostic with focus on AWS and Azure.
• Ensure software updates are deployed correctly.
• Manage and use Git version control.
• Maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
• Troubleshoot source code and fix defects with debugging tools.
• Develop monitoring systems with actionable alerts from instrumentation.
• Build and maintain Kubernetes and cloud-centric CI/CD pipelines; use containers.
• Advise developers on delivering stable and secure code.
• Implement security best practices, including NIST 800-53 in Cloud environments.
• Knowledge of STIGs is a plus.
• Integrate traditional deployments with serverless platforms such as Microsoft Power Platform.
