Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to manage Oracle and SQL Server environments in a remote, U.S.-based role. The position requires 8+ years in database administration with HIPAA/EDI familiarity. The candidate will design, tune, back up, and secure databases for VA projects and collaborate across IT teams.

The role emphasizes DR planning, security, and operational documentation, with a clear path to contribute to enterprise-scale healthcare data systems.

Qualificações

• Experience managing Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Strong background in database design and architecture.
• Proven skills in performance tuning, backup/recovery, and security management.
• Proficiency deploying, administering, and configuring Oracle and SQL Server databases.
• Experience with monitoring/maintenance tools for database systems.
• Knowledge of backups, snapshots, scaling, and read replicas.
• Strong SQL, PL/SQL, and query optimization expertise.
• Experience with DR planning and disaster recovery strategies.
• Strong security practices for both SQL Server and Oracle databases.
• Ability to document configurations, processes, and procedures.

Responsabilidades

• Install, configure, and upgrade DBMS.
• Create and manage database objects such as tables, indexes, views, and stored procedures.
• Monitor and maintain database performance, tuning, and optimization.
• Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies; perform drills.
• Enforce database security policies and user access control.
• Collaborate with developers, system admins, and IT staff to resolve issues.
• Maintain documentation of configurations and procedures.
• Stay current with database technologies and cloud services.
