Job summary

Tessera Labs is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to build connectors, APIs, and data movement tools enabling enterprise systems to share data across analytics and AI workloads. You’ll work at the intersection of backend and data platforms, delivering reusable capabilities and reliable data pipelines.

This role offers remote work with a preference for Bay Area applicants and combines hands-on coding with thoughtful design.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience as a Data Platform Engineer or equivalent.
• Strong Python and SQL, with production-grade software experience.
• Experience building backend services, data infrastructure, or data platform components.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, query optimization, and data formats.
• Experience with concurrent or distributed workloads, including failure handling and performance debugging.

Responsibilities

• Build core data platform capabilities and APIs for data access, query execution, ingestion, and synchronization.
• Create reusable connectors/frameworks for different systems and access patterns.
• Improve performance and resource efficiency through partitioning, parallelism, and memory/storage management.
• Own execution reliability with orchestration, retries, checkpointing, and observability.
• Collaborate with product/engineering teams to design interfaces and drive production deployment.
• Communicate tradeoffs and operate what you build from design to production.
