Job summary

GHY is seeking a seasoned Trade Consultant to join our US Trade Services team. You will advise on tariff classification, origin, valuation, and free trade agreement qualifications, while guiding clients and mentoring colleagues.

Reporting to the Director of US Trade Services, you’ll lead complex regulatory analyses, prepare CBP rulings, and coordinate with CBP and partner agencies. This is remote with travel to Pembina, ND for training and periodic meetings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience in the customs industry.
• CCS designation required.
• U.S. Customs Broker License preferred.
• Strong knowledge of tariff classification and CBP rules.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on tariff classification, valuation, country of origin, and FTA qualification; draft CBP Binding Ruling Requests.
• Support compliance activities including verifications, post-entry corrections, and coordination with CBP and PGAs.
• Prepare scope of work proposals, identify client risks and refund opportunities, and assist with duty drawback coordination.
• Compile customs documentation, manage post-entry filings, and maintain logs for refunds, CBP requests, and entry status.
• Research and resolve supplemental duty bills and penalties, and generate reports to support trade operations.
• Contribute to business development by creating trade-related presentation content and participating in team huddles and process improvements.
