Job summary

Everforth Apex is seeking an experienced Remote COBOL Developer to support HR, Payroll, and Employee Travel systems during a major modernization from PeopleSoft to Workday. The role focuses on production support, batch oversight, and interface troubleshooting across legacy and new platforms, with opportunities to contribute to scalable, reliable workflows.

Collaborate with business and technical teams, participate in off-hours support when needed, and help drive successful modernization

Qualifications

10+ years of mainframe development and support experience.
Strong COBOL, JCL, and DB2 skills.
Experience with batch processing and job scheduling.
Knowledge of mainframe tools: Control-M, SPUFI, File Manager.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day production support for mainframe HR, Payroll, and Employee Travel applications.
Troubleshoot COBOL, JCL, batch jobs, and interfaces.
Support data transmissions between legacy systems, PeopleSoft, Workday, and downstream applications.
Analyze production incidents and triage issues as SME.
Support testing, defect resolution, and deployments for modernization.
Partner with teams to deliver stable, scalable solutions.
Occasional off-hours support for incidents and releases.
