Job summary

Natera is seeking a Senior Bioinformatics & Genomics Data System Engineer to join the DSPE DevOps team. You will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and update DSPE software tools, data platforms, and automation systems in a mostly remote setup.

The role requires strong Python, bioinformatics knowledge, and AWS experience, with emphasis on scalable production systems and cross-functional collaboration. Excellent communication and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field; advanced degrees preferred.
• 3+ years in regulated environment (e.g., CLIA/FDA) for Bachelor's; 3+ years with Master's; 2+ years with Doctorate.
• 3+ years in Software Engineering or DevOps teams.
• Experience creating design specs, verification/validation docs, and user manuals.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and update DSPE software tools and data/cloud/automation systems.
• Maintain and optimize software/system performance across key metrics like CPU, RAM, I/O, and disk usage.
• Create architecture and infrastructure design documents for scalable deployments.
• Contribute to technical documentation and training materials for DSPE tools and systems.
• Train and coach DSPE team members on new technologies and best practices.
• Represent DSPE Software Engineering & DevOps in stakeholder meetings.
