Job summary

Just Eat Takeaway.com is seeking a Senior Software Developer (Backend) to design and operate robust, scalable backend services powering our logistics platform. You will own end-to-end backend systems, model data, and drive event-driven architectures in a high-scale, collaborative environment.

You will mentor peers, champion modern backend practices, and contribute to the future of backend engineering across the organization. Location is remote within Ontario, with reporting to Technology Manager.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building production-grade backend services.
• Strong knowledge of Java (Quarkus/Spring Boot) and Node.js.
• Experience with Kafka, SQS, SNS, and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with AWS/Azure and Kubernetes (EKS).
• Familiarity with Datadog observability.
• REST/gRPC/GraphQL APIs and distributed tracing.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build scalable backend services in Java and Node.js.
• Design distributed domains using DDD and event-driven patterns.
• Implement asynchronous workflows with Kafka, SQS, SNS.
• Define SLIs/SLOs and lead incident response and log analysis.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and mentor peers.
• Operate cloud-native services on AWS/Azure with Kubernetes.
