Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer (Java/Kotlin) to design, build, and support scalable backend platforms and APIs powering business apps. You will work with engineering, product, security, and partner teams to deliver secure, cloud-native solutions while advising on integrations.

The role emphasizes REST APIs, GraphQL, OAuth, Spring Boot, AWS/GCP, Docker/Kubernetes, and strong testing and CI/CD practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with Java and Kotlin.
• Hands-on with RESTful APIs, GraphQL services, and microservices.
• Strong Spring Boot proficiency and modern backend practices.
• Experience with OAuth 2.0, authentication, authorization, and API security.
• Experience with AWS or GCP and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• CI/CD pipelines and Git-based development Experience.
• Proficient in automated testing with JUnit/Mockito.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and microservices.
• Guide integration initiatives and API capabilities for stakeholders.
• Onboard and troubleshoot REST APIs, GraphQL, and OAuth-based auth.
• Translate requirements into secure, scalable tech solutions.
• Create tech docs, integration guides, and sample apps for developers.
• Improve performance, reliability, monitoring in cloud-native environments.
• Support automated testing, CI/CD, and deployment processes.
• Collaborate with security and product teams to meet standards.
• Troubleshoot production issues in distributed systems.
