Job summary

Coinbase, Inc. is seeking an experienced backend engineer to own the design and delivery of financing products from architecture through production launch, ensuring correctness and safety in high-value lending operations.

You will build and operate distributed services, collaborate with product and risk teams, mentor engineers, and drive reliability and observability in a cloud-native environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, building, and scaling service-oriented architectures.
• Proven track record in Go, Java, or comparable backend languages.
• Mentor engineers and lead technical design reviews.
• Familiar with relational data stores, gRPC/Protobuf, and observability tooling.
• Experience with distributed systems requiring correctness, availability, and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of new financing products and features, from architecture through production launch.
• Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and frameworks that support loan lifecycle management and risk calculations.
• Drive engineering excellence by improving tooling, testing, monitoring, and reliability across financing systems.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Operations, and other engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Lead technical initiatives that strengthen system resilience and enable faster, safer shipping.
