Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a highly experienced Senior Azure AI Solutions Architect/Engineer to lead enterprise Generative AI initiatives within a federal application environment. This role requires hands-on architecture, development, and implementation across Azure AI services, Foundry, and related tools, including document intelligence, semantic search, and RAG for scalable enterprise solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/SE/IS/DS/AI with 12 years of related experience
• Public Trust clearance required
• 8 years progressive experience designing, developing, and implementing enterprise software/cloud/data solutions
• 5 years in senior engineering/technical architecture roles
• 3 years hands-on AI/ML design/implementation
• 2 years Generative AI/LLM/RAG experience
• Experience with Microsoft Azure AI ecosystem (Foundry/Azure AI Foundry, Azure-hosted models)
• Experience with Azure AI Search or similar enterprise semantic/vector search
• Strong understanding of vector embeddings, semantic/hybrid search, prompts, grounding, citations, LLM orchestration

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, and implementation of enterprise Generative AI solutions using the Microsoft Azure AI ecosystem.
• Design and implement solutions using Microsoft Foundry, Azure OpenAI/model services, Azure AI Search, and Azure AI Document Intelligence.
• Architect and implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) over enterprise data.
• Develop AI-assisted enterprise search to identify relevant documents and data across large repositories.
• Develop capabilities for NL QA, document summarization, information extraction, and structured output generation.
• Design semantic, vector, hybrid, and agentic retrieval approaches per business needs.
• Develop secure integration patterns between Azure AI services and enterprise apps, APIs, and databases.
• Integrate AI functionality into enterprise apps via REST APIs, SDKs, Java, etc.
• Evaluate Azure AI Document Intelligence features for classification, extraction, confidence scoring, and exceptions.
• Mentor architects and developers on Azure AI, RAG, prompt engineering, and responsible AI.
• Provide hands-on transfer so future maintenance is internal.
• Establish reusable architecture patterns and documentation for future AI implementations.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
