Job summary

Neumo is seeking a Senior Audit Manager (Special Tax) to lead franchise fee audits, cannabis audits, and business license tax audits from a remote location. Based in Birmingham, AL, you will guide a high-performing team and ensure compliance with state and local tax laws.

You will manage budgets, KPI tracking, training, and client relations while handling complex tax issues and coordinating with legal counsel. CPA/CIA preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Advanced knowledge of state and local tax laws, regulations, statutes, and procedures.
• Strong background in corporate accounting and tax functions; analyze tax-sensitive GL accounts.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, able to work with all levels of the company.

Responsibilities

• Oversee audit operations to ensure audits are completed accurately, efficiently, and on time.
• Provide expert interpretation and application of tax laws to complex audits.
• Lead budgeting, KPI tracking, and staff development for the audit team.
• Coordinate with legal counsel for audits contested in court.
• Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and site visits.
