Job summary

Brown University Health is hiring an Applications Systems professional to analyze, design, implement and support clinical applications and interfaces. You will work under the Application System Manager to deliver integrated information systems that meet customer needs and align with hospital policies.

You will guide and train staff, coordinate testing and vendor interactions, and help maintain quality assurance across the information services environment.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration or a related field required.
• A combination of computer-related training and increasing information systems management responsibility may substitute for a degree.
• Epic Beaker Certification, Epic Orders Certification and/or any Epic Certification is preferred.
• Lab experience with clinical or lab instruments, interfaces or IS Lab support.
• Data Innovations interface experience and understanding of Epic Nephrology, Wound and/or Outpatient Rehab; three years programming and systems design experience.

Responsibilities

• Orient and train new employees.
• Schedule assigned employees.
• Provide guidance and counsel to employees.
• Provide input to performance appraisal.
• On a project basis may provide supervisory of Application System Analysts.
• Meet with user departments, IS staff and vendors to define and resolve problems.
• Analyze problems and determine efficient programming solutions.
• Develop specifications for software applications; design, code, test, debug, document and install software programs.
• Test and update software products with new releases.
• Evaluate new software products for applicability to hardware and software environments.
• Coordinate testing and installation of new software packages and vendor modifications.
• Design, program, test and install interfaces among systems with disparate configurations.
• Maintain and enhance existing software via releases and vendor utilities.
• Prepare manuals and training materials and train user personnel.
• Manage complex Information Services projects including planning and implementation.
