Job summary

MainframeMaster is seeking a skilled performance engineer to work remotely from anywhere in the United States. The role focuses on deep-dive performance forensics, tuning, and delivering code across COBOL, Java, Python, and more.

You will review code, analyze exception metrics, and mentor junior teammates while ensuring 24x7 application support. Ideal candidates have strong SQL/DB2 optimization skills, experience with Strobe or DB2 Visualizer, and a collaborative mindset for sharing solutions

Qualifications

• Experience in tuning application performance and identifying code-level degradation.
• Proficient in SQL and DB2 processing to optimize CPU usage.
• Strong mentorship and knowledge sharing within the team.

Responsibilities

• Perform deep dive performance forensics using Strobe, DB2 Visualizer, and exception reporting to isolate code level drivers of degradation.
• Ability to use SQL statements and DB2 processing to improve CPU usage and run time.
• Deliver technical code in COBOL, Java, Python, Go, JCL, & REXX.
• Must be comfortable with performing application code review for tuning recommendations.
• Daily review of exception report metrics to address anomalies as they occur.
• Provide routine awareness of technical solutions and education among the APM team.
• Assist in war room hosting for issues that arise impacting application support.
• Engage in technology proof of concept and proof of technology support.
• Provide mentorship to less experienced application performance technical team.
• Deliver 7x24x365 technical support for application improvements.
