Job summary

Amex GBT is seeking an experienced Senior Application Security Engineer to join our team in the corporate travel industry. This remote role requires a blend of application development and security expertise to build, secure, and maintain our cloud-native infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will mentor others, promote secure coding practices, and help govern the deployment of agentic AI tools while ensuring PCI-DSS, GDPR, and SOC 2 compliance across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software development with expertise in Python, Go, Java, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• 3+ years of hands-on application security or DevSecOps experience.
• Strong knowledge of OWASP Top 10 and API security, authentication protocols, and secure API design.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain secure CI/CD pipelines with integrated security testing.
• Implement and tune automated security scanning (SAST/DAST/SCA) and container scanning.
• Deploy and support API security tools and centralize findings.
• Collaborate with development teams to promote secure coding practices and guidance.
• Govern AI coding tools, establish guardrails, and mitigate AI-related security risks.
• Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS, GDPR, and SOC 2.
• Build KPI reporting for security initiatives and present to leadership.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote a security-first culture.
