Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior API Automation Engineer (AWS & AI Testing) to design scalable API automation solutions and advance intelligent testing across cloud-native applications. You will collaborate with developers, architects, business teams, and other technology stakeholders to ensure high-quality software delivery.

The role emphasizes building automation frameworks with Java, Rest Assured, TestNG, Maven, and Postman, validating REST APIs, and applying AI tools to improve test generation

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in quality engineering, test automation, or software testing with hands-on API automation.
• Advanced experience building API automation frameworks using Java, Rest Assured, TestNG, Maven, and Postman.
• Strong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices testing, JSON/XML validation, API contracts, schemas, OAuth, and JWT.
• Experience integrating automated tests with Git, Jenkins or GitHub Actions, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands-on experience validating AWS-based applications and services (API Gateway, Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, DynamoDB, CloudWatch).
• Experience with SQL, backend validation, integration testing, regression, and end-to-end testing.
• Experience using AI agents or generative AI tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, OpenAI, Amazon Q) in testing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable API automation frameworks using Java, Rest Assured, TestNG, Maven, and Postman.
• Automate REST API validation across integration, regression, and end-to-end testing for microservices-based apps.
• Apply AI agents and generative AI tools to support test generation, intelligent validation, and self-healing automation.
• Validate API contracts, JSON/XML schemas, OAuth/JWT authentication, DB integrations, and service responses.
• Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and AWS-based cloud-native applications with stakeholders.
