Job summary

Backblaze is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to own the shared, reusable transformation and metric logic that becomes the single source of truth for the company. You will design dbt models and the semantic layer that produce certified business and financial metrics, ensuring accuracy and reconciliation with Finance.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, BI, or related role.
• Advanced SQL with production-grade data models.
• Strong dbt experience: staging to marts, tests, docs, CI/CD.
• Experience with modern cloud data warehouses (Snowflake preferred).
• Experience building semantic/metric layers (dbt Semantic Layer, LookML, etc.).
• Software-engineering practices: Git, reviews, testing, CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Own the transformation layer from staging to marts, enforcing standards and documentation.
• Stand up and maintain the semantic layer with certified metrics such as ARR, MRR, retention.
• Build and ship repeatable data products (land, stage, model, certify, expose).
• Ensure data quality, lineage, and observability across pipelines.
• Collaborate with Finance, Revenue Ops, and Marketing to align metric definitions.
• Provide AI-ready data models for downstream analytics.
