Job summary

F5 Networks, Inc. seeks a Security Engineer III for its Distributed Cloud platform to advance monitoring, detection, and incident response capabilities across cloud-native and hybrid environments.

You will design and enhance monitoring, strengthen detection quality, and drive investigations of security incidents at scale, partnering with cross-functional teams to define assets, controls, and telemetry requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4–6 years of experience in security operations, monitoring, detection engineering, or incident response.
• Hands-on experience with logging, monitoring, and SIEM/dash boarding tools (AWS GuardDuty, Sumo Logic, Grafana, CrowdStrike, DataDog, Splunk, Thycotic).
• Working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP) including native security/observability services.
• Solid understanding of log handling and telemetry pipelines; integration with downstream systems and alert tuning.
• Proficiency with programming or scripting languages (Python, Java, Shell).
• Experience with CICD and vulnerability scanning with a shift-left mindset.
• Knowledge of container orchestration and cloud platforms like Kubernetes or OpenStack.
• Certifications (e.g., Security+, GSEC, CISSP) preferred.
• Familiarity with FedRAMP is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and enhance observability solutions using AI-powered monitoring and analytics.
• Collaborate with architects, engineering, security, and compliance teams to define security controls and monitoring requirements.
• Integrate logging/monitoring pipelines with SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, APM and cloud-native tools.
• Lead SOC, IR, threat detection, vulnerability management and incident response efforts.
• Identify, remediate, and validate vulnerabilities with timely patching and hardening.
• Maintain and upgrade SIEM deployments as needed.
• Implement IaC, Policy as Code, and Security as Code across clouds.
• Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations and weekend support.
