Job summary

Maverick Payments is seeking a Security Engineer to design, implement, and maintain security controls across cloud, infrastructure, endpoints, and identity. You will work with IT, Compliance, DevOps, and business stakeholders to strengthen Maverick's security posture.

The role requires strong experience in PCI DSS/SOC 2, Azure security, and scripting. Remote-friendly with preference for onsite in CA or Houston offices; competitive salary and benefits offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in cybersecurity/IT/CS.
• Minimum 5+ years of progressive information security experience.
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on security engineering experience.
• Experience supporting PCI DSS, SOC 2, or other regulated environments.
• Experience with Azure security technologies and security monitoring platforms.
• Proficiency with PowerShell or Python scripting.

Responsibilities

• Support PCI DSS and SOC 2 compliance through security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and secure cloud architecture in Azure.
• Configure and manage Defender for Cloud, Defender XDR, Sentinel, and related tools.
• Develop security baselines, hardening standards, and configuration management processes.
• Monitor cloud security posture and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with infrastructure and development teams to embed security requirements.
