Job summary

Connections Academy seeks a dedicated Secondary Science Teacher for the South Carolina Bridge Connections Academy (SCBCA). This full-time, remote role serves SC students in grades 9–12, delivering instruction via asynchronous and synchronous sessions to ensure program completion.

Responsibilities include grading, progress reports, parent conferences, and ongoing communication with families to tailor Personal Learning Plans. SC residency and SC teaching certification are required.

Qualifications

• Certified to teach Secondary Science in South Carolina.
• Must reside in South Carolina.
• Gifted and Talented Endorsement highly recommended.
• Strong technology skills with MS Office and Google Suite.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Highly organized and punctual.
• Willingness to travel for school/state testing events.
• Ability to work remotely.
• Occasional evening hours may be required.
• Use of personal device and email for two-step verification.

Responsibilities

• Support instructional program with asynchronous web conferencing sessions and synchronous instruction.
• Complete grading, create progress reports and conduct parent conferences in a timely manner.
• Communicate with parents, students and teachers to develop and update Personal Learning Plans and schedules, provide feedback on student work, suggest instructional approaches and strategies, monitor completion of assignments and coach special projects.
• Develop knowledge of the program’s K-12 curriculum and detailed knowledge of the grades served.
• Support students and parents with alternate strategies and provide additional assistance with daily assignments and projects.
• Keep student records and data up-to-date, including attendance and contacts.
• Consult with team members to develop enrichment activities and modifications to students’ programs.
• Devise and implement virtual methods of creating and maintaining a “school community.”
• Participate in the organization and administration of the State Testing.
• Participate in student recruiting sessions and other marketing events.
• Attend field trips and other community activities for families.
• Other duties as assigned.
