Job summary

North Carolina Connections Academy is seeking a Secondary English Teacher to deliver high-quality virtual instruction from home or at the Durham office. You will support students and learning coaches using Pearson Online Classroom and online communication tools.

Applicants must hold a North Carolina Teaching License in English Language Arts and be available for a full-time schedule 8am–4pm, Monday to Friday. Preference for virtual teaching experience and strong Google Suite skills.

Qualifications

Valid North Carolina Teaching License with English Language Arts certification.
Availability to work full-time from 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday.
Strong technology skills, especially Google Suite.
Virtual teaching experience preferred.
Willingness to travel for school-based meetings and events.

Responsibilities

Deliver asynchronous and synchronous instruction in whole group, small group, and 1-1 settings.
Complete grading, lesson preparation, and communications within required timeframes.
Review curriculum and adapt lessons to improve student understanding.
Support students and learning coaches with assignments and strategies to drive course completion.
Adhere to IEP/504 Plans for students in assigned courses.
Engage in professional development and collaborate with staff via online tools.
Develop methods to foster a virtual school community.
Proctor and support state testing as directed.
Serve as Homeroom teacher and primary point of contact for a group of students.
