Job summary

Emerald Cloud Lab seeks a Scientist for its Scientific Infrastructure team to design and implement software that coordinates automated wet-lab experiments and data workflows. The role emphasizes building reliable systems and supporting rapid experimentation in a remote, software-driven lab environment.

You will work with Mathematica and diverse instrumentation, learn programming, and help scale the Emerald platform for pharma, startups, and academic labs worldwide.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. degree in Chemistry or Biology.
• 2 years of experience in roles related to Scientific Infrastructure/Automation or Research & Development Infrastructure.
• Experience with Mathematica Coding.
• Comfortable with rigorous data analysis and experimental design.
• Willing to learn programming (no prior experience required).
• Willing to learn robotic automation (no prior experience required).
• Experience troubleshooting experiments and instrumentation.
• Experience across diverse experiment types and rapid skill development.

Responsibilities

• Architecting and developing new software solutions to increase speed or reliability of laboratory operations.
• Maintaining advanced laboratory support systems including inventory management and asset tracking.
• Updating SLL, Emerald’s software library, to improve development experience for internal and external users.
