Job summary

Colorado Department of Education seeks a School Finance Analyst to perform complex financial, data, and program analysis in support of state funding for districts, charter schools, and BOCES. The role ensures accurate and timely funding and provides reliable financial information for local decision-making.

The Analyst administers funding programs, pupil count processes, and mill levy calculations, collaborating with districts and program staff to resolve issues and improve data quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, public administration, education, data analysis, or related field.
• Relevant professional experience may substitute for education.
• Experience with complex data sets and in financial settings.
• Excel proficiency and experience with financial datasets.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support administration of state school finance acts, including calculations and distributions.
• Perform monthly and annual school finance calculations and funding changes.
• Administer designated funding programs and schedules.
• Review data supporting funding calculations and resolve data issues.
• Develop and deliver training and resources for district officials.
