Houston Gateway Academy is seeking a Remote School Counselor to provide comprehensive counseling and student-support services entirely online. You will collaborate with teachers, families, and administrators to address academic, social-emotional, and career development needs in a remote setting.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s in School Counseling with state licensure and has experience delivering virtual counseling to school-age students.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in School Counseling, Counseling, or a related field.
• Appropriate school counseling certification or licensure required based on applicable state requirements.
• Previous experience providing counseling services to school-age students preferred.
• Strong understanding of academic, social-emotional, and career counseling principles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to establish meaningful relationships with students in a virtual environment.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality regarding student information.

Responsabilités

• Provide individual and small-group counseling services to students through approved virtual platforms.
• Support students with academic, social, emotional, and personal concerns.
• Help students establish academic and educational goals.
• Assist students with course planning, academic progress, and graduation planning.
• Provide guidance regarding college, career, and post-secondary opportunities.
• Monitor student progress and identify students who may benefit from additional support.
• Develop appropriate intervention and support strategies for students.
• Communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns when appropriate.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, special education staff, and other school personnel.
• Maintain accurate and confidential counseling records and student documentation.
• Conduct virtual check-ins and follow-ups with students.
• Help students develop organizational, study, communication, and decision-making skills.
• Provide resources and referrals when students require additional services or specialized support.
• Assist with student transition planning and educational planning.
• Respond appropriately to student concerns involving safety, well-being, or potential crisis situations and follow established school procedures.
• Participate in virtual staff meetings, student-support meetings, professional development, and other school activities.
• Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality when working with students remotely.
• Support a positive, inclusive, and supportive virtual learning environment.
• Perform other counseling and student-support responsibilities as assigned.
