Job summary

Supabase is seeking engineers to join Spark, a Rust-based lightweight implementation with a Postgres-compatible SQL layer and PostgREST/Auth API. You’ll own large areas end-to-end, shaping the product from day one in a founding role on a brand-new team.

The role emphasizes working in public, collaborating asynchronously, and partnering with design teams to migrate and integrate real-world scenarios while contributing back to the broader Supabase stack.

Qualifications

• Strong backend or full-stack experience with Rust and shipped production Rust
• Experience building backend systems, frameworks, or developer platforms
• Solid grounding in SQL and relational databases, ability to reason about Postgres vs SQLite

Responsibilities

• Grow API compatibility with the Supabase client and conformance tests
• Bring more of the Supabase stack to Turso/SQLite
• Identify and work around gaps in the underlying database engine with tests
• Own the developer experience end to end: the CLI, local tooling, and docs
• Contribute to the hosted offering while keeping costs low and modular architecture
