Job summary

Irth Solutions is seeking a Risk Model Engineer to own transmission risk models within the AI/ML Insights platform. You will translate probabilistic threat models to the new platform, extend coverage across transmission threats, and build Irth’s model library in collaboration with ML Ops and data engineering teams.

You will work on physics-based and ML-driven models, producing explainable risk outputs for operators and regulators, while aligning with pipeline integrity standards and regulatory

Qualifications

• Experience building or validating quantitative risk, reliability, or failure models for physical infrastructure.
• Knowledge of pipeline integrity standards and regulations (ASME B31.8S, 49 CFR 192, CSA Z662).
• Experience with fitness-for-service, corrosion growth, or fracture mechanics.
• Experience with inline inspection (ILI) data and anomaly classification.
• Experience with Monte Carlo simulation and uncertainty quantification.
• Experience applying ML to physical asset data (time-series, anomaly detection, classification).
• Experience with consequence-area and class-location analysis.
• Geospatial analysis using ArcGIS, PostGIS, or linear referencing.
• Ability to produce model validation evidence for regulatory/audit reviews.
• Strong software engineering practices (testing, code review, reproducibility).

Responsibilities

• Migrate probabilistic model code to the risk management platform and validate results.
• Integrate model inputs from diverse datasets across Irth products.
• Extend threat coverage across domains including corrosion, cracking, third-party damage, outside forces, and other transmission threats.
• Design time-series, anomaly detection, and geospatial models for inspection, sensor, and maintenance data.
• Collaborate with ML Ops and data engineering teams to productionize models.
• Ensure model outputs are explainable, defensible, and regulator-ready.
