Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Risk Management Consultant to join its Energy and Resources team. This remote/hybrid role requires travel to client sites up to 10% annually, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to identify and manage risks across the project lifecycle.

You will lead structured risk workshops and develop practical risk outputs, translating complex technical information into clear insights for project teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience supporting risk management on engineering or capital projects.
• Experience in heavy industry, energy, natural resources, or infrastructure preferred.
• Field or site experience in industrial/construction environments valued.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (PFDs, P&IDs).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams to implement practical risk management strategies.
• Review client risk programs and tailor approaches to project phase and regulatory needs.
• Facilitate structured risk workshops (HAZOP, HAZID, PHA, PFMA, FMEA, MAA).
• Lead multidisciplinary discussions to identify risks and uncertainties.
• Develop and maintain risk registers and outputs for decision-making.
• Assist with risk evaluation and mitigation using hierarchy of controls and PtD.
• Coordinate with discipline leads to understand project interfaces and execution strategies.
• Contribute to project reviews and deliverables with risk-informed perspectives.
• Support ongoing risk monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
