The role involves preparing government filings, calculating benefits and distributions, and maintaining communications with clients, accountants, and plan participants. A background in retirement planning and related education is preferred.

Qualifications

• Reviews, analyzes and amends Defined Contribution plans and prepares SPD enrollment lists and related reports.
• Prepares IRS Form 5500 and related schedules; files forms electronically as needed.
• Calculates plan benefits, distributions and tax implications for participants.
• Compiles data for quarterly, semi-annual or annual allocation reports and conducts compliance tests.
• Maintains contact with clients, accountants, attorneys, and plan participants, answering inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Review plan specifications and input census data; identify HCAs and key employees.
• Reconcile plan assets for each valuation period.
• Develop amendments and update plan specifications as needed.
• Prepare contribution reports, allocate employer contributions and determine top-heavy status.
• Prepare loan documents and amortization schedules; track repayments.
• Conduct open enrollments and respond to client questions.
