Section 1: Position Summary

This compliance position requires an advanced understanding of all plan types and involves complex interactions with Plan Consultants.

Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties, and Responsibilities

  • Successfully complete and support the work outlined for the Compliance Associate roles.
  • Read and understand retirement plan provisions from plan documents, summaries, and related materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Apply legislation and regulations, including IRS, DOL, and ERISA, when preparing, analyzing, and interpreting information.
  • Support DOL, IRS, and Large plan audits.
  • Assist Plan Consultants in resolving operational and compliance issues related to qualified plans.
  • Manage plan administration, compliance, and testing for designated blocks of business.
  • Track and monitor job progress to meet compliance deadlines.
  • Prepare annual valuation and compliance reports for clients.
  • Consult with Plan Consultants on drafting plan documents, amendments, and legal documents.
  • Support and complete quality assurance reviews.
  • Handle all confidential data securely to prevent unauthorized access or disclosure.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned.

Supervision

Section 3: Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on retirement plan testing experience; 8+ years preferred.
  • Experience with 5500’s and relevant documents.
  • Experience with cash basis and/or trust accounting.
  • Prior ERISA experience in the retirement industry is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of financial data analysis and testing experience.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage tasks, and meet deadlines related to ERISA compliance.
  • Retirement Plan Fundamentals certification upon meeting eligibility requirements.
  • QKA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Work towards or involvement in QPA designation is preferred.
  • Experience with plan administration software such as Relius, FT Williams, ASC, or Datair.

The national average salary is $70,000 - $100,000, excluding bonuses and benefits. Actual salary will vary based on factors like location, experience, and performance.
