Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Research Scientist 2 (Remote) to apply statistical and epidemiologic methods to healthcare data, evaluate clinical programs, and support decision-making for clinical and business partners.

The role resides in the Quality & Cost Strategy Analytics team and focuses on designing rigorous outcomes studies, diagnosing performance gaps, and translating findings into actionable recommendations for improving health outcomes and cost efficiency. Travel is occasional.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, statistics, health services research, clinical informatics or related field.
• 2+ years applying statistical, epidemiologic, econometric or related quantitative methods to large datasets.
• Strong foundation in causal inference and observational study designs.
• Experience using Python, PySpark, R, SAS or comparable tools.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to translate complex methods for non-technical audiences.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
• Interest in healthcare and improving health outcomes and value.

Responsibilities

• Design and execute outcomes studies to evaluate clinical program performance.
• Apply causal inference and epidemiologic methods to estimate program impact.
• Analyze claims, enrollment and operational data to identify performance drivers.
• Translate research questions into analytical plans and hypotheses.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to turn insights into clinical strategy and performance improvements.
• Develop analytical reports, presentations, and executive readouts.
