Job summary

Horace Mann is seeking a Technical Release Coordinator to manage technology releases across multiple teams remotely. You will own release schedules, readiness activities, deployment communications, change-management documentation, and post-release reviews.

The role requires 5+ years coordinating software releases, strong planning, and ITIL and Agile awareness, with willingness to work off-hours for deployment windows. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of technology experience coordinating projects or software releases across multiple teams.
• Experience managing releases of varying size, scope, complexity, and business impact.
• Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
• Experience working with change-management processes and production deployments.
• Hands‑on software development experience using object‑oriented programming concepts.
• Experience with code merges, branching strategies, build processes, and deployment activities.
• General understanding of Agile development practices.
• General understanding of ITIL practices.
• Ability to participate in scheduled off‑hours, weekend, or emergency release activities.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate regularly scheduled releases, out-of-cycle deployments, and emergency fixes across multiple teams.
• Facilitate release-planning meetings to determine scope, sequencing, timelines, dependencies, and deployment requirements.
• Develop and document release recommendations, including release scope and schedule, deliverables and component listings, testing and validation requirements, and implementation steps.
• Establish release-readiness criteria and track projects through the change-ticket lifecycle.
• Prepare for and participate in Change Advisory Board meetings and deployment-planning sessions.
• Direct off-hours release activities, including deployment coordination, status reporting, issue escalation, and resolution.
• Coordinate mock deployments, pre-production checklists, production implementation, and post-production verification.
• Package and stage production-ready release artifacts and ensure infrastructure readiness.
• Communicate release status, business impact, duration, issues, and outcomes before, during, and after deployments.
• Lead release-review meetings and capture lessons learned for future improvements.
