Job summary

Finix is hiring a Regulatory Counsel to partner with Product and Sales as we build and launch payment products in the U.S. and Canada, with a primary focus on gaming and gambling regulation.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor and active bar admission in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
• 5+ years of legal experience with a regulatory focus in payments, fintech, banking, gaming, or similar regulated sector.
• Ability to analyze multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks and apply them to products and customers.
• Experience advising product, sales, or business teams on new product launches or market entry.
• Working knowledge of U.S. payments regulation, money transmission licensing, FinCEN, BSA/AML, consumer protection, and privacy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary regulatory advisor to Product and Sales with fast, practical guidance.
• Lead regulatory analysis for new sectors, models, and launch minimums.
• Own regulatory strategy for gaming and gambling verticals (iGaming, sports wagering, sweepstakes, prediction markets).
• Embed regulatory requirements into product design, disclosures, and terms.
• Support Sales on complex deals, including regulatory diligence and structuring guidance.
• Translate laws and network rules into clear guidance for teams.
• Monitor regulatory developments in the U.S. and Canada and advise on impact.
• Support sponsor bank and card network relationships on regulatory matters.
• Work with Compliance on licensing, filings, and exam readiness.
• Manage outside counsel and bring work in-house over time.
• Prepare decision-ready analyses for senior management, the board, and partners.
