Job summary

Finix is seeking a Regulatory Counsel to partner with Product and Sales to build compliant payment products across the U.S. and Canada. You will interpret laws, card network rules, and sponsor bank requirements to guide product design, deal structures, and market entry.

The role focuses on gaming/regulatory strategy, stakeholder collaboration, and timely regulatory guidance, with growth opportunities and a path toward aligning product to evolving legal standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of regulatory-focused legal experience in payments, fintech, banking, or similarly regulated industries.
• Experience advising product, sales, or business teams on new product launches or market entry.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to turn ambiguity into clear plans and decisions.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex, multi-jurisdictional regulatory frameworks and apply them to real products and customers.
• Active bar admission in at least one U.S. state.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary regulatory advisor to Product and Sales on designs, features, deals, and customer opportunities.
• Lead regulatory analysis for new sectors, models (ISV, marketplace, merchant-of-record) and licensing requirements.
• Own regulatory strategy for gaming and gambling, including state-by-state analysis and licensing needs.
• Embed regulatory requirements into product design, user flows, disclosures, and terms early in development.
• Support compliance on licensing, renewals, regulatory filings, audits, and governance.
• Engage outside counsel on specialized matters and bring work in-house over time.
