Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Legal Program Manager focused on regulatory compliance, based in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY, with remote options. You will lead end-to-end regulatory programs, translate guidance into workflows, and partner with Product, Engineering, Governance, Risk and Compliance, Global Affairs, Communications, and Go-to-Market to ensure readiness across jurisdictions.

You will build scalable evidence, support audits, manage risks, and establish success metrics.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in program management or regulatory compliance in tech-forward or highly regulated environments.
• Experience working with in-house legal teams; regulatory matters and in-house technology exposure are a plus.
• Proven ability to translate complex regulatory guidance into repeatable workflows and documentation.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills; able to navigate ambiguity.
• Hands-on, proactive, with interest in AI technology and fast-moving technical environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead regulatory compliance programs end to end with defined scope, milestones, risks, and escalation paths.
• Translate counsel’s guidance into repeatable workflows, controls, and documentation across domains.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, User Operations, GRC, Global Affairs, Communications, and GTM to align priorities.
• Support regulatory inquiries, audits, and investigations with organized evidence and timely responses.
• Maintain a reliable source of truth for obligations, controls, evidence, and reporting; track remediation and blockers.
