Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Legal Program Manager focused on regulatory compliance to build cross-functional programs translating counsel's guidance into practical operations. Initial focus may include content moderation and frontier AI governance.

You will partner with internal and external counsel, product, engineering, and operations to coordinate implementation, evidence collection, reporting, and ongoing compliance. This full-time role is based in San Francisco, CA, or New York, NY.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in program management or regulatory compliance in tech or regulated environments.
• Experience with in-house legal teams is highly preferred.
• Proven ability to scale compliance programs and build operational workflows.
• Translate complex legal guidance into repeatable processes.
• Strong documentation and evidence management discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end regulatory compliance programs: define scope, owners, milestones, risks, dependencies, and escalation paths with counsel and partners.
• Translate regulatory guidance into repeatable workflows, controls, and documentation for various portfolios.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, User Operations, GRC, Global Affairs, Communications, and Go-to-Market to align priorities and deliverables.
• Support regulatory inquiries, audits and investigations with counsel, organizing evidence and timely responses.
• Maintain a single source of truth for obligations, controls, decisions, evidence, and reporting; show compliance readiness.
• Identify gaps, track remediation, and elevate blockers while keeping counsel in the loop.
