Job summary

Merck & Co., Inc. seeks a Regional Medical Scientific Director (RMSD) to act as a therapeutic and disease expert, delivering balanced scientific information to external leaders and supporting scientific exchange, clinical research, and congress activities.

The role is remote with up to 50% travel across designated US territories, requiring a doctoral degree and deep experience in oncology or urology. A strong MSL background and regulatory knowledge are essential for success in this leadership

Qualifications

• PhD, PharmD, DNP or MD required.
• Clinical (patient care) or research experience in Oncology or Urology.
• Field-based medical-science liaison (MSL) experience.
• Minimum 3 years of therapeutic-area experience in Oncology or Urology.
• Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
• Strong scientific knowledge with focus on education and dialogue.
• Business and market knowledge.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
• Thorough understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA and other guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Develop professional relationships with national and regional SLs to provide non-promotional scientific information.
• Conduct peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintain a reliable medical contact within the company.
• Address scientific questions outside RMSD scope to appropriate resources.
• Review HQ-directed education to stay current with scientific and clinical developments.
• Liaise between scientific community and company for trials and investigator programs.
• Identify barriers to patient enrollment and recommend study sites and investigators.
• Engage in scientific meetings and staff congress exhibits as applicable.
• Gather feedback and data to inform medical strategy and priorities.
