Job summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking a Regional Director of Operations to oversee multiple communities and drive occupancy, resident satisfaction, and financial performance. The role requires extensive regional travel, with the office accessible from Des Moines, IA, and a remote-friendly setup.

You will lead Executive Directors, develop strategic plans to improve NOI, and ensure high-quality care while maintaining a strong presence on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Minimum of five years’ senior living leadership experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including presentations.
• Ability to analyze financial reports and metrics to guide decisions.
• Proficiency with MS Office and adapting to tech platforms.
• Proven leadership, team-building, and accountability.
• Judgment, problem-solving, and prioritization in fast-paced settings.
• Commitment to resident satisfaction and organizational values.

Responsibilities

• Lead operations by directing and coordinating activities across communities.
• Communicate a resident-focused vision across all sites.
• Review resident satisfaction surveys and implement improvements.
• Hold Executive Directors accountable for goals.
• Develop strategies with EDs to meet NOI expectations.
• Maximize occupancy to meet budgeted revenue.
• Develop occupancy growth plans.
• Review monthly financial statements with EDs.
• Stay aware of competition and industry trends.
• Spend majority of time onsite.
• Oversee recruitment, hiring, employee relations, and separations of community leaders.
• Provide oversight and accountability for Executive Directors.
• Delegate authority across leadership teams.
• Lead the regional team in alignment with mission and values.
• Foster teamwork, accountability, and proactive problem-solving.
• Promote leadership development and collaboration across communities.
