Job summary

Johns Hopkins Health System is hiring a Coding Specialist for the Radiology department. This remote role requires CPC certification, 3+ years of radiology coding, and experience with CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10. Work involves professional billing coding, QA, and collaboration with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement.

The schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm or 8:30am–5:00pm, with 100% remote work and in-home internet required. Residency in MD/PA/VA/DE/DC/FL is accepted.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in HIM, Medical Coding, or related field; or a high school diploma with 2 years coded experience substituted for a degree.
• CPC, CCA, or CCS-P certification is required; Radiology certification (CIRCC) preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of coding experience in radiology.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and commercial payer policies, and CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10 coding systems.
• Experience with Coderyte and physician documentation review for accurate coding.

Responsibilities

• Assigns diagnosis and procedure codes to professional billing encounters based on documentation and coding guidelines.
• Codes moderately complex radiology cases with multiple diagnoses or detailed documentation.
• Review queues and resolve coding edits to support accurate claim submissions.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and improve coding quality.
• Participate in coding quality assurance and ensure compliance with applicable guidelines.
